Okay, to start with: Fuck. You. I started off as a fanartist, I learned through drawing my favourite characters, I admit there was a bit of copying and tracing in the start, but look at my art now. I’ve got a fuckload of original characters and a good consistent style. And I’m working on a webcomic that requires a lot of effort, creativity and persistance included.

Do you really think they’ll care what you think if they’re that talented? If they’re good artists they’ll have a big following, so if they lose one what do they care? And they can draw whatever the fuck they like. I don’t draw much fanart anymore, but I still do when I feel inspired to. I draw heaps of wierd shit you’d normally find on porn sites, or even just plain boring half-assed drawings that deserve to be in the scraps, but I enjoy drawing what I want, it relaxes me and I feel much happier when I pick up that pencil or that tablet pen. That’s the essence of being an artist, having the freedom to express yourself however you want.

So. Fuck. You.
